The Art Annex is the creation of Bill Sullivan and Lynne Chmurzynski, a visionary couple with big ideas for this chapter of their life in Hillsdale.
While they’ve been long-time second homeowners in 12529, a shift took place in 2014 with the purchase and intense renovation of the historic Althouse-Higgins home on Main Street.
The space on the lower left was completed first, transformed into the fashionable Mirror Mirror Clothing Shop operated by Lynne. This full feature consignment shop caters to men, women and teens, and the selection is carefully tended by Lynne for quality, fashion and affordability.
Next came a complete redo of the upstairs space, transforming it into short-term rental accommodations under the name Overnight at Althouse-Higgins.
Finally, The Art Annex was ready for art! In the Fall of 2015, they hung the art of Phil Cattogio and were very excited to finally see art on the walls.
Their formal debut came in March 2016, when artist Betzie Bendis’ exhibited her lush show, “Works on Paper”.
Since then, numerous local/regional artists have been exhibiting at the Art Annex, with changeovers about once a month. Visit the Exhibits tab for info on the current and past shows — they’re all amazing yet strikingly different from each other.
