The Art Annex welcomes artist Glen Martin to the gallery, with an artist reception scheduled for Saturday, November 5 from 2-5PM.
Glen Martin divides his time between Hillsdale NY, New York City, and his native Trinidad. Martin is a multi-talented artist who works in a variety of mediums: oil painting, Venetian plaster, sculpture, ceramics, and antique frame restoration. He is also a talented dancer who revels in physical expression; he feels there is a tremendous transfer of energy when you are close to other people.
Asked what drew him to Hillsdale, Martin enthusiastically describes how his love of Nature and water was satisfied by our region. Besides the landscapes and farmland, he points to Bash Bish Falls, Copake Lake and the Hudson River as favorite attractions.
Martin’s works have been exhibited in solo and group shows, in the United States and Trinidad. His first shows were sponsored by the Royal Bank of Trinidad and Tobago in 1974. Over the years, the artist has exhibited in numerous galleries in Trinidad. In New York City, his works have been on display at the Puck Galleries, The Jacob Javits Center, Artilier Studios, the Pratt Gallery and Medgar Evers College.
Martin’s show, “The Source of Life”, will be on display from November 5-27. The Art Annex is open on Saturdays from 11-5 and Sundays 12-5. This exhibit will also be open on the day after Thanksgiving, November 25th.
